What We’re Thankful For With The Refinery Staff

“With gratitude, the universe is eternally abundant.”

With that line from the movie HappyThankYouMorePlease in mind, we couldn’t help but think about all the things we are thankful for this year. We celebrated our one-year anniversary, and every day we get to see the smiles of all our guests, we couldn’t ask for anything more. With Thanksgiving just a couple of days away, we thought we’d ask some our staff here at Refinery to share a few things they were thankful for. Here’s what they had to say:

Mario Lopez, Winnie’s Lobby Bar
“This year I finally moved into the city, and I’ve been wanting to do it forever. I was living in Queens for a long time, and I didn’t want to move into the city because I just thought it was going to be crazy and expensive, but I got into a really great deal. It took me a while to move in, but I’m finally there, and I’m so appreciative.”

“I am thankful for the friends that I have in New York, who have become like family. I’m from Louisiana, it’s really far away! My friends here have been the one thing keeping me together this year.”

Dominique, Refinery Hotel
“You can just write write ‘Grateful to be free.’ Gratitude is freedom. It frees me from all my wants and desires. It is the concept of freedom that I am grateful for. Yet, if you want a specific thing, I have a five-year-old son. He’s happy, he’s healthy, and he loves me unconditionally. That is the specific thing I am most grateful for. I’m grateful that I could be a good dad to that beautiful boy. But if you want a one line quote, ‘Grateful to be free.’

“I am thankful for my family, and animals. Everywhere. I’m thankful for dogs and puppies. Did someone already say that?”

Edison, Refinery Hotel
“One thing I’m thankful for? Well first off, I’m grateful for being alive. I’m grateful for having a good job at The Refinery. I’m also grateful for being from New York City. I have to think about it more, but those are three things I’m really grateful for.”

“My health. I’m alive.”

As cliché as it may sound, it doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving to give thanks and be grateful for what we have. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at the Refinery Hotel!
