What’s happening in NYC this weekend

The excitement of NYFW has come and gone, but New York City is still buzzing. Here are some of the most exciting events happening around the city this weekend. And no, this list doesn’t include binge watching “Stranger Things” for the second time! Get out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather, because winter (and the cold weather) is on its away.

Photoville at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Thursday, September 22nd – Sunday, September 25th.
Free

Photoville is back for its fifth year in an awesome, new location on the Brooklyn waterfront—The Brooklyn Bridge Plaza in DUMBO. The annual festival is NYC’s premier photo exhibit destination. The event is held in a modular venue built from repurposed shipping containers, and is both indoors and outdoors. Photoville exhibits work by more than 400 visual artists, ranging from beginners to expert photographers. This year, more than 60 exhibits cover topics such as the Flint, Michigan water crisis, the late Bill Cunningham, and adorable puppies wearing flower crowns. Photoville also hosts free panels, workshops and talks throughout the day. Check out the full programing schedule on the official Photoville website. There’s even a Smorgasburg Beer Garden for food and drinks!

The Feast of San Gennaro
Friday, September 23rd – Sunday, September 25th
Free

The annual street festival in Little Italy is always a favorite. The eleven-day festival, which celebrates Italian heritage, will end this Sunday, September 25th. Live music, cannolis, fresh pasta and a giant inflatable slide are all a part of the outdoor festival. The Feast of San Gennaro always brings a sense of excitement to the streets of the neighborhood and is great for a family outing. May your weekend be filled with delicious foods and treats that line the streets of Little Italy!

Wine Riot
Friday, September 23rd – Sunday, September 24th
$65

Imagine your local neighborhood wine tasting—now multiply that by 100 and you have Wine Riot. Located at the 69th Regiment Armory in Midtown Manhattan, Wine Riot is an all-access pass to hundreds of wines from all over the world. There will be experts on hand to help guide your palate and educate you on all things wine during each of the four-hour riot sessions. There will also be live DJs and photo booths for you to document the evening. There’s even a free app to help you track your favorite wines and where to buy them, just in case you forget after your third glass of wine. Tickets are available for each “riot” here.

Smithsonian Museum Day Live!
Saturday, September 24th
Free

Each year, the Smithsonian magazine works with participating museums across the United States to open their doors at no cost to visitors. Many museums in New York participate in Museum Day Live!, such as Cooper Hewitt, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space and The Jewish Museum. If you’re looking to take part the free museum day, be sure to submit your request for a free ticket (each ticket offers entrance for two people).
